Being out on bail isn't the same as being free. He'll still have a court date for potential sentencing. Bail just means he's promised he won't flee between now and his court date.

It's complicated in how it works but if you're interested.......

Domestic violence pretty much sinks a cop's career and that isn't good for the family because he isn't pulling in a paycheck, health insurance or pension anymore. It also removes the perks that law enforcement families enjoy so there is little incentive for an abused spouse to report.

Police departments also don't like DV charges because they lose officers and, it looks bad.

So what happens is if a cop is smacking around his wife or kids and the department gets a call they send out some officers to talk him down, cool her off and remind her of the ramifications. If, and I mean a BIG IF, she wants to still continue DV charges go through the chief/captain/Lt. and officer slappy gets put into the timeout corner for awhile all while keeping things off books.

Generally they(cops/police depts) won't even take a DV charge against an officer, it goes straight to command and is handled.

That's the gist of it anyway.

The abuse allegedly went on for 20 years from 2002 to 2021.

These are hard to nail down. I don’t trust cops but also don’t trust women in bitter divorce situations. Also I’m always a bit wary of those who adopt when they can have biological children. My experience has taught me that many women that do this have mental issues.
