My half-retarded explanation of Terrain theory - If people walk into a room full of invisible deadly dust smoke - everyone is typically affected and will begin coughing and or experience symptoms.
No one has to pass around the same single deadly dust cigarette from one person to another to all become 'sick' (Germ theory) .
People are also highly individual - Some will not get 'sick' or suffer from the same toxins present. Ie someone can chain smoke their entire life and never get lung cancer, or be alcoholic and not have liver poisoning bad kidneys etc.
Many Enviromental toxins play a part including high/ low frequency electronic pollution, household chemicals, industrial pesticides etc etc. These issues can also be seasonal due to low sunlight exposure and damp / cold conditions etc.
Aside from eating the same foods and breathing the same air, there is a well known phenomena in whereby women living in the same household will sync menstrual cycles. We know colds & flue come in cycles already. It is conceivable that whether male or female humans in close proximity these cycles will synchronize too.
There is interesting history. Plant biologists were trying to understand a transmissible disease of tobacco plants. According to germ theory there was a germ that caused the disease. Germs were big enough to be seen with a microscope. A good microscope with say 500 times magnification, but still big enough that you could filter out germs.
But the disease got transmitted by liquid from infected tobacco plants even after filtering.
Cutting a long story short, this lead to the discovery of the tobacco mosaic virus, and of a new kind of infectious agent that was smaller than the microscopic germs of germ theory. Then people grew stupid and started wearing masks, hoping to filter out viruses with a filter that you could breathe through quite easily. Or maybe it is just education that changed. Children stopped learning the origin story of viruses, and learned the origin story of Marvel super heroes instead:-(
