Well heck, now all that remains is Target and Walmart.

Suppose there’s always JC Penney at the mall.

That's fine I'll just go to Radio Shack or Circuit City.

As someone who hates shopping, good riddance. What a waste of time when there is more variety and better deals on the net. However, I always avoid globohomo stores, like Amazon, and almost always find an alternative that's around the same price.

No one wants to rub up against filthy unwashed savages, so they get everything on amazon and it gets left on the doorstep in a matryoshka of corrugated carboard boxes.

After target falls, I presume the US gov will start stepping in, claiming that it is a monopoly. The company will break up into smaller businesses. Look forward to grocery shopping at an amazon spin off in the future. yay.

I lived near a K-Mart when I grew up and our family quickly learned that they should've been called Kame-Apart because all their merchandise in the 90s started to become cheaply made chinese shit with some products repackaged in the US and labeled "Assembled in the US" which they could get away with because they assembled the boxes that repackaged the chinese shit.

It was not always that way for the K-Mart.

On our honeymoon down in Marathon, in the keys during the 90’s- one of my fondest memories was sitting at the Brass monkey talking to a local asking where I can get whatever it was- the sea hag saying that “honey, if you can’t get it over there at the K-Mart, you don’t fucking need it.” (The liquor store was around the corner, bait shop there too… ) she was right.

I have lived through so many big chain closings, it is really depressing. If you look at footage of any US mall in the 1980's or even the 1990's, probably less than 1% of those chains are still in business and some had like 1000 stores.

Yeah. I hate to see mainstay brands and chains from my childhood and early adulthood dying off. But in reality, it was all just consoomer slop.

Nostalgia is a helluva drug.
