This tech will likely die a quick death when it's determined that it unfairly over represents a certain key demographic. Pretty much like how Shotspotter is quietly being phased out in Chicago.

Also, this tech is pretty useless in event flash mobs of "teens" target the store.

There was a commercial a while ago that showed a White guy in a store, filling his trenchcoat with merchandise and walking out. The idea was that the credit card company was developing tech to skip checkout altogether, that or predictive programming to get people used to the idea of mass retail theft.

Either way, this shit ain't new. Sounds like facial recognition tech and product recognition tech coalesced. If you've ever used a store that has tech like that and paid with a card, your face is easily attached to your bank information.
