Russian trolls/bots completely took over the site. They spam pointless meme posts and all auto upvote each other to gain a reputation/downvoting abilities and then use said abilities against anything critical of Russia. Examine posters like 'boekanier' 'belfuro' and you'll see what I mean.

'Free speech' sites have zero defence against this tactic. Unfortunately you're going to have to have a mod who's intelligent at spotting the bots and getting rid of them without accidentally getting rid of real posters who are just idiots and/or ideologically brainwashed to act almost identically like the bots.. good luck with that. This forum is basically over now, the smarter guys have gotten sick of their threads staying unseen while the bot spam gets to the top and so have left.

I do think that this is part of it. But I think that the other part of it is that we're just bored! Maybe we've just been doing this too long, and we've lost our passion for posting legit content, and we now only reach for the low hanging fruit!

I've always thought that every site like this should give more points and more visibility to their earliest members. Because if a site grows and becomes popular it's always because of the postings of the earliest members. And when a site suffers because of its growth as it's IQ goes down and it it begins to attract people who fight the original themes of the site then the percentage of content that made the site originally great get smaller and smaller. But if the original members of the site had super visibility it would counter that.
