There's more than meets the eye

I never disclose private details on this board because it ends up becoming a discussion point when someone disagrees with me. But...When I was younger, I was a bassist in a punk / metal band for a while. I had a classical training in cello and some other instruments, so electric bass wasn't a huge stretch. Not to mention having a female in the band was unique, kind of like a talking dog, or a pig on a tricycle.

aaanyway, we had an original I co-wrote called 'Punch with Judy" which was a twisty little song about a guy trying to drug his date.

I had a chic singer for a while in a side band back in the day. We did all the gud shit like Barracuda, etc. She could sing her ass off and was fucking hot and we could blow the roof off of any place. Then she got hooked on pain pills and turned into a complete loser. Her husband recently OD'd and is now dead. Its sad. I play the pan flute hooked into a 5150 100 watt head.

So easy. So so so easy to get hooked on something. I stuck to booze, I couldn't remember shit on weed, and that led to embarrassing shows. I was far more versed in musical theory than the rest of the band, so it could get frustrating. It was an amazing time, looking back, and I wouldn't trade the memories for anything...but I am so glad I got out of it. Exhausting!

Anything before 2005ish. We covered some stabbing westward, killswitch, alkaline, metallica, Also covered some eighties and nineties. Originals were hard fought for, and I lived in a van for a while. Cool times, scared, hungry, and trashed most of the time.

Oh man! All good stuff especially westward! I started around in 03. Now I'm just a poet. Now I wanna listen to coil

westward was one of my favorites. Sadly we could have played some more complex shit, but most of the band couldn't read music and didn't have the chops. When you trained to play Luigi Boccherini or Scarlatti, it is not a huge stretch. Also, guys can piss out of the back of a van...I cannot.

Sometimes a bucket and duck tape achieves the best results. I try for the simple and complex

Yeah. You really learn the ins and outs of living rough. Cool people, assholes and everyone in between. Once the guys realize you aren't going to have sex with them, you just become one of them. They know to leave you alone when you are a bitch, and it makes traveling a lot easier. I left them alone when they were looking to hook up. It all kind of sorts itself out.

For the most part yeah. Till you get backstabbed by jews

Didn't happen to me back then. We didn't make enough money to attract the attention of anyone but scamming asshole club owners.

I have to add in that I am not trashing my then band mates. Amazingly talented, all of them. I just wanted to learn some cool jams to break up the monotony, but if I suggested something, they would look at me like i was insane. I would warm up with some chopin or brahms, and the crowd would always get into it.

Sounds like a good time

Yeah, my parents weren't ecstatic. But It was a critical part of my formative years. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I'll stick with poet, DJ and potential music therapist for now
