That whole time we were having all that fun, we were wishing we were adults. Because you know who was having a whole lot more fun than we were? The grown-ups! Do that video next…that’s really why we were so unsupervised, lol!

I was born in 1980, life was pretty much exactly the same for us also. Really, if you grew up at any point between the 1950’s to the latter half of the 1990’s, you were lucky enough to experience American society at its peak, a truly wholesome upbringing for all White children. For the vast majority of Whites, we lived in an ethnostate, rarely seeing any non-Whites other than a couple token minorities in school. You probably experienced block parties in your high trust neighborhood because all of the boomer parents on your block knew each other and loved to party. 4th of July parties were the best, even the kids were given explosives to fuck around with, and you probably knew someone who had a BlackCat firecracker blow up before they could toss it, shit looked painful. All adults smoked cigarettes, and it didn’t matter if kids were around, or where you were, it was acceptable in most locations during the 80’s. You basically had surrogate parents all over your neighborhood because the kids were almost never home unless it was time to eat or time for bed, so the adults kinda looked out for all the kids out there playing. The toys and playgrounds we had were designed for survival of the fittest, and most of us experienced getting stitches at least a couple times, 5 times for myself. Fights were a guarantee, so you learned the importance of standing up for yourself early on. Your mother and father probably had no qualms about beating your ass if you were disrespectful to them or any other adults. There was always a house in the neighborhood that had a dangerous dog (or dogs) that escaped their property and posed a serious threat to the neighborhood kids, but even though it gave chase to some of us on occasion, nobody ever got caught and mauled. During the summer nights we often played manhunt, and the territory was half the damn neighborhood. Dodgeball was an integral part of defining the hierarchy in school, there was no mercy for the weak, and those hierarchical roles we established in gym class extended beyond the gym. We were free to get into all sorts of adventures back then, and those adventures often led to learning valuable lessons along the way.

What glorious time to live, the only thing that bothers me is that it didn’t last into adulthood for my generation, college had become a necessity if you wanted the life your parents had, because manufacturing jobs that made the good life possible for the majority of Americans were all gone by the late 90’s. It’s sad and enraging to know what was stolen from all future generations.
