100% true story

submitted by Rowdybme to whatever 6 monthsOct 12, 2024 22:23:04 ago (+6/-0)     (whatever)

A few years back I took my family to some Marriott resort with a water park in San Antonio for the 4th of July. Anyway, my wife wasn't feeling well one morning so I took all 7 of my kids to this cave which had like activities and all sorts of stuff. Well we entered and it was sunny and about 100 degrees. Just totally stifling hot. We went through the cave for about an hour which had a nice temp. When we exited it was strangely storming like an actual monsoon. The whole outside was flooding but was so much cooler than sunny and 100 degrees. We make it back to main store and restaurant place. Inside was about 50 hasidic jews. I bought a beer and went outside to stand with my kids and watch the rain while we waited for the rain to let up a bit. So my kids ask me about the jews inside. I look over and they partying with a capital P. Dancing, singing, clapping hands and jumping on tables. I started explaining to them about the jews negatively and was making fun of their crazy behavior. In the middle of a sentence A HUGE LIGHTNING BOLT struck like literally 3 feet in front of me. Was so close we all actually felt the zap and had ringing ears. It happened. Actually now that I think about it. Got another weird story. When I was young we attended a church with a tall steeple on the front. The elder of the church came together and debated to remove it or not. Since it's history is perceived as being a sign to reach heaven. They thought that was blasphemous like the tower of babel that God destroyed in the OT. Anyway in the planning process of removing it one day during church while the preacher was asking for extra donations to remove it. CRACK LIGHTNING STRUCK. DURING CHURCH. we went out side and the steeple had been struck and fell off the building. I'm serious.

Will be 25 years next year in August. But we have had encountered every issue you can think of. It takes two people who won't give up. That's the only secret.

You think God sent the bolt, but what if your thoughts attracted it?
How separate are God and a man?
Does God dwell within or without?
What are we capable of and what truly is commanded of us?

Will we do well?

You ever tried telling a cockroach about physics? We are of the world and do not understand the inner workings of the Father - we humans are the roaches.

I think that's pretty fair, but we still don't even know if that is true.

THE QUEST CONTINUES

I guess you can always boil it down to following christ and being wrong only equates to probably living a better life. Living your life and not listening and being wrong. You're going to have problems.

I do believe in listening. To everyone.

I wouldn't be here (or the many places before it) if I didn't at least listen to the crazy people.

[ - ] boekanier 1 point 6 monthsOct 13, 2024 08:01:32 ago (+1/-0)

what do you mean with 'crazy people'?

[ - ] puremadness 0 points 6 monthsOct 13, 2024 14:03:44 ago (+0/-0)

Lets me and you stand in front of a mirror.

"Those guys, right there"

[ - ] boekanier 0 points 6 monthsOct 13, 2024 08:00:40 ago (+0/-0)

you don't have to be a christian or whatever to live an ethical life. This is the misconception of many believers

the 'Father', what do you know about him, that what a book is telling you?

[ - ] Rowdybme [op] 2 points 6 monthsOct 12, 2024 22:35:30 ago (+2/-0)*

Good questions. I don't know. All I know is some weird shit happens that can't all be coincidence. Huge edit: My opinion on the bible is it was written by jews and can be used to gather information. The new testament has the 1st four books and I believe In Jesus and his words. The remaining books are mostly written by Paul and I think they are good advice. But to get to heaven we need to read the red text said by Jesus and follow it. Alot of atheists just only know christianity preached to them by someone who is wrong. If they forget all they think they know and listen only to what Jesus has said and live by that. Their lives will be better for it.

Yea, I don't see any coincidences either, I see complex systems, big and deep, but very predictable.
I see God when I think of entropy, light, energy and the interplay between smaller systems.
They used to call those demons.

Anyway the first inclination cannot be ignored, yes, something appears to have made... something. Cannot even imagine how.
but what I do know is, that guy over there, any one of them, he doesnt know either.

If I had to guess, I'd wager God is the macrosystem of things, creating itself and everything below that is the micro. I do not believe it is any more sentient save for the sentience experienced within its parts. No "overall person", No real Archetype, No personification. But I could be wrong and all the books might be right.

You said it best, man.

I dont know.

I grew up in the church and hated it and was an atheist until about 25 years old. I met a similar mind and through science he actually convinced me that there is a creator. I don't know if God is some old dude with a beard floating in the clouds, a kid playing an advanced version of the Sims, an alien who seeded life here, or an interdimensional being guiding us. But I believe in Jesus and his words. I don't think everyone is going to hell or that the devil put dinosaur fossils in the ground to trick us. I lean more towards we are all spiritual beings that created a plan to come here to experience trials to help us become better. That we are all God and that the main goal is to learn how tonlove people who are hard to love and forgive people who are hard to forgive.

I've heard that one about choosing before birth, that one does my head in. Interesting though.

Yeah alot of NDE people say that's how it works. Some of these people I don't trust but some of them have amazing stories. Like the doctor who was a vigilant atheist his whole life. Some other ones too.

How can you believe in the specific character of Jesus Christ and how he describes God exactly. But still say you don’t have a clue what God is?

[ - ] Rowdybme [op] 1 point 6 monthsOct 12, 2024 23:04:12 ago (+1/-0)

Well I have my opinions. But if you dive down the rabbit hole there are alot of interesting thoughts. I've had my own experiences and through faith I believe in Jesus. Can I prove it. No. It just makes alot more sense that we have a creator who came from nothing than it does that we came from nothing.

[ - ] 3Whuurs 1 point 6 monthsOct 12, 2024 23:12:45 ago (+1/-0)

I just mean that Jesus existence itself suggests very specific origins and identity of who god is.
And Jesus also very specifically says who and what god is.

So if you don’t know exactly who and what god is, you can’t possibly believe Jesus word.

I’m just saying your belief in Jesus sounds a little less clear than you might think.

[ - ] Rowdybme [op] 0 points 6 monthsOct 12, 2024 23:26:36 ago (+0/-0)*

Where does jesus specifically explain what God is, that couldn't be explained by one of my 5 possibilities?

[ - ] puremadness 1 point 6 monthsOct 13, 2024 00:08:51 ago (+1/-0)

Why?
Why does that make more sense? (last sentence)

Wouldn't our creator necessarily have to be at least as if not more than advanced than we are?

[ - ] Rowdybme [op] 1 point 6 monthsOct 13, 2024 02:24:28 ago (+1/-0)

That's was the point. An all supreme being existing for eternity makes more sense than the world being created from nothing. Both are hard pills to swallow. But an all supreme being existing without a creator makes alot more sense than a dumb pointless world that is made from chance somehow.

[ - ] boekanier 1 point 6 monthsOct 13, 2024 03:05:43 ago (+1/-0)

if you don't know, you're an agnostic, like CG Jung among many others

[ - ] puremadness 1 point 6 monthsOct 13, 2024 05:30:36 ago (+1/-0)

Well you don't know either sooooo...

That was the best "donation" that could be given.

[ - ] NegaroNegaroNeeegaro 0 points 6 monthsOct 13, 2024 10:57:44 ago (+0/-0)

What is the point here? You seriously think God micromanages your feelings about jews?

[ - ] 2Drunk 0 points 6 monthsOct 13, 2024 00:12:34 ago (+0/-0)

I'm not reading that.

[ - ] Rowdybme [op] 1 point 6 monthsOct 13, 2024 02:25:35 ago (+1/-0)

Tldr: you're a lazy fucktard.

One time I farted and lightning struck somewhere. I strongly believe those 2 events were related.

Well since you mocked God. If you stub your toe tonight. Consider it a sign that you're a dumbass.

[ - ] boekanier -1 points 6 monthsOct 13, 2024 03:10:24 ago (+0/-1)

be nice, you as a christian should act like the 'good book' tells you...

[ - ] puremadness -1 points 6 monthsOct 13, 2024 05:34:04 ago (+0/-1)

He didn't mock God.
He mocked you.
