What did you use for light? A firepit? Beeswax candles? Tiki torches? Those would definitely work to brighten one's mood especially in Florida.

We made halos out of a string of led lights and wore them on our heads, bringing light everywhere we go. Otherwise there were flashlights and faggy modern alien lamps, not good for the soul. But the halos were hilarious people looked like angels

I figure if we lose power up here in the hills of NH this winter, I can keep the fridge powered up at night without running a generator, then recharge it off generator power (..for as long as fuel is available)

Nothing can help much if everything you have is washed away in a flood, but I encourage all to prep the best they can, for whatever natural disasters might apply to their geography.

naaah. Plug in a battery generator that can keep it going all night and charge it up next day. I don't want to deal with moving food around and dealing with frozen milk, but yeah - cold outside and can use it if required

eh. we had no power for 10 days a few months back. big storms took out a pair of the massive pylons somewhere near a powerplant.

water is on an electric pump so no electricity no water. was like camping at home. didnt bother me in the least.
