Home sweet home.

As Michael Wolff described in this book Orange County was the home of 'racist' Congressman James Utt and was a huge John Birch Society hub. Well, yeah, I resemble that remark...

Knotts Berry Farm, Bircher Congressmen John Schmitz, at times John Rousselot, Richard Nixon's house. Schmitz represented Nixon's district in San Clemente. When Nixon went to China Schmitz was asked if he minded that Nixon went. He said he didn't mind if he went there. He minded if he came back.

Wolff mentioned all of this about Orange County in noting William F. Buckley never really, truly kept out the kooks from the conservative movement. They emerged on January 6th, clad in attire and with images that was anything but bourgeois.
