Jesus is the Rock: Wednesday Bible Study

submitted by Love240 to Christian 7 monthsOct 30, 2024 03:25:25 ago (+1/-2)     (Christian)

Bible Study Wednesday:

The goal of this particular series of Bible studies is to show from the Word of God how Jesus is the rock.

Deuteronomy 32: The Song of Moses

1. Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
2. My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distill as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass;
3. Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.
4. He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

As we can see directly from the 4th verse that God IS the rock.

John wrote in John 1:
1. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.
14. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
29. The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
34. And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

So we can see clearly from the Gospel of John, that Jesus is the Word, He is God, he is the Lamb of God, he is the Son of God, and he takes away the sin of the world.

Just as it was written by Peter in his second epistle

20. Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

So we can see the Bible is clearly self-consistent and describes God as our Rock. Jesus, who is The Word come in the flesh, IS the rock of our salvation.

God bless.

JESUS IS NOT THE ROCK! PP15 Jesus saith to them: But whom do you say that I am?

16- Simon Peter answered and said: Thou art Christ, the Son of the living God [Matthew 16:16] 17 And Jesus answering, said to him: Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven. 18 And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven. 20 Then he commanded his disciples, that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ.

[18] "Thou art Peter": As St. Peter, by divine revelation, here made a solemn profession of his faith of the divinity of Christ; so in recompense of this faith and profession, our Lord here declares to him the dignity to which he is pleased to raise him: viz., that he to whom he had already given the name of Peter, signifying a rock, St. John 1. 42, should be a rock indeed, of invincible strength, for the support of the building of the church; in which building he should be, next to Christ himself, the chief foundation stone, in quality of chief pastor, ruler, and governor; and should have accordingly all fulness of ecclesiastical power, signified by the keys of the kingdom of heaven.

[18] "Upon this rock": The words of Christ to Peter, spoken in the vulgar language of the Jews which our Lord made use of, were the same as if he had said in English, Thou art a Rock, and upon this rock I will build my church. So that, by the plain course of the words, Peter is here declared to be the rock, upon which the church was to be built: Christ himself being both the principal foundation and founder of the same. Where also note, that Christ, by building his house, that is, his church, upon a rock, has thereby secured it against all storms and floods, like the wise builder, [Matt 7:24-25].

[18] "The gates of hell": That is, the powers of darkness, and whatever Satan can do, either by himself, or his agents. For as the church is here likened to a house, or fortress, built on a rock; so the adverse powers are likened to a contrary house or fortress, the gates of which, that is, the whole strength, and all the efforts it can make, will never be able to prevail over the city or church of Christ. By this promise we are fully assured, that neither idolatry, heresy, nor any pernicious error whatsoever shall at any time prevail over the church of Christ.

[19] "Loose upon earth": The loosing the bands of temporal punishments due to sins, is called an indulgence; the power of which is here granted.

JESUS IS NOT THE ROCK!

So, you've denied Jesus. Okay...

Just say you don't believe the Bible already.

Just admit that you are NOT in the One True Church, and your learning has been stunted by the Idiots that have preceded you!

Jesus came to Earth to pay the debt that man owed for the sins in the Garden. Once that was accomplished, Jesus returned to Heaven, before He did so, He established the Catholic Church, and Made Peter the first Pope. Jesus was never supposed to stick around on Earth for all of Eternity! That is WHY Jesus further says to Peter:

19 And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.

This is the origin of Confession.

I am in no way part of the heretical pagan syncretism in the similitude of Christianity known as the Catholic Church. It is an abomination and the beast of revelation. The Mother of Harlots.

I know the Catholic myth, thanks, no need to regurgitate it here.

The Bible clearly tells us in 1 Timothy 2:
4. Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6. Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

As we can see, the Lord wills that all men 'be saved'.
It doesn't say that God wills that all men 'temporarily have their sins removed up until now, and now you need works'.

Continuing, we are to come unto the knowledge of the truth, for there is one god. For means because when used as a preposition like that. So we are to come unto the knowledge of the truth because there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

So, there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, there is no 'need' for a man for your confessions or for having the Lord's Supper. There is no need for a 'vicar' to dictate doctrine to all subordinate churches, there is no need for that kind of dictatorship period.
As we know from Matthew 20:
25. But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
26. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; 27. And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
28. Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

He gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
To be testified.
That is, to be preached of.
This is the Gospel, that Christ Jesus died for us, that our sins are as far from us as are the east from the west. Psalm 103:12
Not, 'Peter, and the Catholic Church'.

What does Peter say about it? 1 Peter 1:
3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4. To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5. Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

So we have Peter telling us that God hath begotten us again into a lively hope.
Not, 'might, if you do the works of the Catholic Church'.

To an inheritance incorruptible, undefiled and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.
So it's not up to chance.
Well, why is it not up to chance?

Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation.

Okay, so we see it's not up to chance because it is kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation.
Not, 'by faith and works of the Catholic Church'.

It is conclusive; the further we examine the scripture, the more clearly we can see that salvation is grace by faith, not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:
8. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Created in Christ Jesus.
Not, 'might be created in Christ Jesus if you stay in the Catholic Church'.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

If you could lose your salvation, you would. It is by grace through faith; not of works like 'staying in church and taking communion' and whatever other non-sense you believe.

Repent of your belief in the man Peter and YOUR WORKS of staying in the man-made institution called the Catholic Church and instead believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for your salvation!

You think that is an acceptable thing to say in response to a Gospel message?
You should be ashamed of yourself.
