Made possible by (((trusted))) corporations selling your contact data directly to people they are well aware are fucking criminals. I dont use Gmail or online services, I run my own.
I remember where I use certain data, and I have patterns I use in my data details, all fictional.
So when a scam comes down the line, the combination of where it is received, what it thinks it knows about me, and what it wants from me can easily reveal precisely who was breached or who sold the data out.
That said, You guys really shouldn't give AOU your email address.
"Imposter scams remained the top fraud category, with people pretending to be your bank’s fraud department. Consumer.ftc.
Just happened to me.. got an auto phone call telling me there had been an unauthorized transaction on my card .. a fellow came onto the line said he was from my bank's security dept, he quoted some joint I had never heard of and wanted my card details .. I had already smelled a rat and discontinued the phone call .. I called the bank they told me it was a scam however they still recommended I get a new card .. when it arrived yesterday I went to the bank to authenticate the card, tendering as identification my by now expired driver's license, my DVA card, the old card and the envelope with my name and address the new card came in .. the wog teller refused to accept any of it and demanded I present my birth certificate .. I told him **** he said "get out," so I went into the head branch in the city the girl accepted my ID and everything worked out .. after that I had to go online and change the data for three auto deductions, the email company, the telephone company and the I'net provider .. no problem.
