@Sector2...my cousin, 62 years old, ordered back into the Ukraine military 2.5 years ago, dragged out of bed (figuratively) at 5.30 in the morning, amazingly he is still alive, he's a specialist so he's needed...other cousin/relation in St. Petersburg Russia is a non-processed conscript who has not seen battle yet (32years old and built like a brick barn).

All depends on your criteria, and what you're looking for. For example, would you live in a place that freezes? Do you keep your family separate from society and home school? Do you wage slave, or do you generate funds through projects and businesses?

Being 'the foreigner' can be okay in some places, until conditions go bad. You'd probably be fine in a place like Japan though. Plus, their shrinking population is leaving a lot of empty houses selling for reasonable prices.

Do a lot of research and talk to Americans who've moved to places you're considering.
