Because the buildings had been built with plane collisions in mind, is the point. They were brought down by controlled demolition, at any rate.

It's called thermite and it was found in the buildings after 9-11.

The thermite theory started with Steven Jones. He was involved in the debunking of Pons & Fleishmans's cold fusion. There was another theory that micro nukes were used, which is a better explanation for the very high amount of energy required to turn concrete into dust.

There are pictures of steel girders cut at 45° angles. Nukes from above can't do that. Thermite placed on the beams by Demolition Inc. can.
