I really hate dealing with Linux developers

submitted by AugustineOfHippo2 to Linux 5 monthsNov 5, 2024 16:11:36 ago (+3/-0)     (Linux)

Every single time I need something, I always get
" Here's a pile of completely disorganized poop, everything you need is right there". And of course, every single time I shift through the poop and organize it into something useful, it is missing multiple critical pieces. To which they respond by shoveling even more disorganized piles of poop.
It just never ends.
Every Linux dev I've worked with does this, without exception.

There is no manual. These are developers creating custom applications for embedded Linux devices. They can't even explain how their own code works.

LOL, new-fags can't Linux!

Ask yourself why EVERYONE ELSE gets it, but you doh't.

diagnosing on linux is piss easy. In the very unlikely case there's no documentation just read the code.

diagnosing that "unknown error -374783747383" on windows? Yeah glhf sifting through 8 pages of AI generated shit on Google

That was the Mantra back in the day!

I'm a linux dev and I also hate them for same reasons.

It's the notion they have that they know it all already.

Its hard to pry their minds open sometimes.

Linux sucks.
It is superior, but it sucks so completely that no one cares.

They were that way when I used to work with them in the early 90's! They had an inflated sense of self, and were stubborn as Fuck! There were times when I wanted to take a baseball bat upside their f'n heads, or shove their damn computer up their ass!

Made for some interesting in-your-face arguments though! I handled technical support for a Trading floor at one place, and later for Trading desks at an online discount brokerage firm! I'd have the Head of Trading at my desk, Bitching and barking about a system problem or outage, to which I would call the Developer into the conversation. The GD Dev. Would say something like, "I can't get to it now, or I'm in the middle of something." or " It's not my problem". In the end, it was code related... Sometimes, it was Network related, and man, I loved working with our Network guy, kind of a Big Country dude, But I'll tell you what, If it was a Network problem, HE was on it!

Those days are gone I guess...
