Freud gave that research to his nephew Edward Bernays who made all the rules of propaganda and marketing and how to use it to socially engineer the population. It's why social science exists since the 1930's. The Rockefeller foundation had it put in colleges and universities. It is the long march through the institutions.

The first run for the brainwashing was getting the US into World War One. Bernays said that frightening women was key to the control. In Canada, the propaganda didn't work on the French because propaganda is language specific. People in our countries who also speak a non romance based language aren't affected. All the teen girls and women who had baked in the sun every summer for decades using baby oil to get browner stopped doing that, but did not get skin cancer.
