shits bad for your liver and kidneys.

its the only stuff that works for me. paracetamol/aspirin dont work for me.

id have to go for a couple of days through a migraine before i touch ibuprofen but it does help that.

It also damages your stomach and shrinks your testicles. Not joking. Look it up.

I just weather them, but they "only" last about 18 hours at most. I thought I had tried various pain relievers and just given up on any helping. I might try that next time I have a really bad one.

im pretty much the same. if it goes longer than that you should really be checking in with a doctor somewhere anyway.

i can remember lying prostrate in a completely fucking crappy bath/shower for about 2 hours in the UK before my ex got home, gave me a cup of tea and a fucking biscuit and i was fine... but that was... fuckin poverty line level food intake shit that. fuck all glucose, brain food, its like the cunt starts eating itself.

Try niacin. Not niacinamide. Makes you red, but worth it. You get used to it.

as always with pills of the doctor: they only suppress the disease, the disease then looks for another way to break out

[ - ] i_scream_trucks 0 points 5 monthsNov 19, 2024 02:09:57 ago (+0/-0)

to be fair its not really meant to fix anything, just help get through symptoms, if whats causing it needs something more, pills arent gonna do it, but i think most people realise that.

There's a study out of Denmark that says it's bad for men. Testosterone and gizz count and all

Someone I know always says to put ice on an injury. Why? "It stops inflammation." But inflammation is a healthy response, to do the healing. Only in rare circumstances is it harmful (e.g. inflammation that pushes on the brain). It may be painful, but it's SUPPOSED TO BE so we don't go putting stress on it.

How can I stop nausea (short of KYS)?

[ - ] allAheadFull 7 points 5 monthsNov 19, 2024 02:20:23 ago (+7/-0)

Stop looking in the mirror.

Ginger.

[ - ] paul_neri 0 points 5 monthsNov 19, 2024 18:08:16 ago (+0/-0)

Yeah I've read that but once I had ginger tea and it seemed to make matters worse. The Health boffins say never drink coffee on an empty stomach, which I've done most of my life, so I'm now eating rice biscuits before and during coffee in the morning. Not sure if it works.

Drink more water. Laxatives may help. Don't know what to tell you without more info.

is naproxen sodium (aleve) any better?

for a long time Ibuprofen was the only thing that helped my headaches, aspirin doesnt work for me.

Naproxen works for me though but I think its the same sort of drug.

[ - ] i_scream_trucks 2 points 5 monthsNov 19, 2024 02:12:20 ago (+2/-0)

are you a shaved orangutang as well by chance? for anything pain or sleep related, only one thing has been consistently a help for me my entire adult life. but i get called a bonghead a lot. meh.

[ - ] taoV 0 points 5 monthsNov 19, 2024 03:56:55 ago (+0/-0)

Naproxen is about the only thing that works for me too. All NSAIDS work on pretty much the same group of inflammatory pathways, so they all broadly do the same thing (inflammation is a step in the healing response). Though I do think individual differences and cause of pain affect how well a certain one works for someone.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 5 monthsNov 19, 2024 00:12:20 ago (+0/-0)

Ibuprofen has helped me live a normal life with severe menstrual cramps. Tylenol and aspirin suck for that.

[ - ] i_scream_trucks 0 points 5 monthsNov 19, 2024 02:16:02 ago (+0/-0)

iirc ibuprofen an anti inflammatory anyway. tylenol is our panadol i think? paracetamol... works on pain receptors, aspirin thins blood.

codeine you cant get over the counter here but in the uk... mmmmmmm night nurse. the tits. swig of that and youre out.

[ - ] Clubberlang 0 points 5 monthsNov 19, 2024 12:05:22 ago (+0/-0)

tylenol is our panadol i think?

Koewrekt.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 5 monthsNov 19, 2024 13:51:40 ago (+0/-0)

Tylenol (aka acetaminophen generically here) is indeed paracetamol . Both names are derived from para-acetylaminophenol.

Aspirin is also antiinflamatory. In fact I think all 3 inhibit pro-inflamatory COX enzymes but the tylenol only works on COX enzymes in the nervous system or something?

Didn’t know you could codeine otc in the UK. You are in Aus. I think?
