All of this is correct. It's also worth noting how effective the Russians have been, generally speaking. They are also gaining valuable data and experience in modern, conventional warfare.

People underestimate just how huge Russia is, and how many allies they have. They could continue this war for years if they chose to, and manufacturing of arms and equipment would drive their economy through the ceiling. I think that's part of their goal for this war- I believe they could've ended it already if they made certain strategic decisions, but it's like they're choosing not to.
