Question for the Aussies...

submitted by iSnark to Australia 5 monthsNov 26, 2024 03:00:09 ago (+9/-0)     (Australia)

Has Australia become less "Australian" over the last thirty years or so? I know that we share a common language, but it seems like when I was young, about a hundred years ago, there was more "Uniqueness" to Australia and Australians.

Being on this site, and engaging so many from down-under, makes me think that there is something to my theory... If I brought a friend to this site, and had them login, and spend a few weeks on this site, and then, I asked them to pick out the members that live in Australia, I don't think they could. Where maybe 40 years ago, the difference would have been much more noticeable. Is this true, and do we lay this change at the feet of technological innovation making the World smaller? I'm interested in some thoughts from the Aussies here...

"do we lay this change at the feet of technological innovation making the World smaller?"

It's called America and its culture-quashing influence.

It's become like everywhere else, owned by jews and subsumed by jewish degeneracy and self-destructive policies.

Not an Australian, obviously, but a hundred years ago Oz probably wasn't that unique at all. Just Britain in the Antipodes with more micks. They had a very developed labor movement and good benefits for workers though. The ethic of the 'fair go' was a high prole model that was enviable and was better than anything in the West at the time. Billy Hughes was a good leader.

Those days are gone. From Billy Hughes to Albo...

I am not joking when I say this country has become worse under that pipsqueak's govt. And it was already bad under Morrison.

Its kinda weird that there are so many aussies here. You expect alot of Americans because we are numerous. The US has 13X more people. But Aussies are maybe 20% of the user base I think.

I agree, and I'm not sure why we have such a loyal Aussie following, Why don't we have an equal number of New Zealanders? (A place I'd love to move to...) It's GREAT to have them here, they're great people, and they add a lot to this site. But I do wonder what the connection was. Maybe I make a post and see if anyone gives feedback... Is it possible that Australia's government is more authoritarian than New Zealand's, and the people there are more motivated to find sites like this? Who Knows...

Your country is a wet nappy full of shitty, weak-willed faggots, and whores.

A complaint I've come across is that Australia is too much like America - libshits in particular harp on this.

Words like garage and territory are now said the American way - instead of territrie Aussies now say terri-tory like Americans. And garage is now pronounced the American way. We're even saying "bathroom" now instead of toilet or dunny.

Interesting topic - could say more but my lack of sleep is now catching up. But yes, Americanisms are definitely creeping into our way of life. Which is weird, because as my earlier posting today pointed out, many Aussies do express dislike, if not hatred, for America.

I didn't get any sleep last night either... Hopefully your restfully sleeping right now...

I was talking to @PostWallHelena, and she commented about the number of Aussies here on this forum. It does seem like there is a disproportionate number of people from Australia on this here, Which is a GREAT thing! My question is, Do you have any idea why so many Aussies have joined this forum? Why wouldn't there be a large number of New Zealand folks here too? How did you first find out about this place?

Missed this comment. There are Kiwis here, but they're outnumbered by us.

Yeah, it's weird there are so many of us here. There were even more on old Voat.

I found myself on original voat via a comment on Breitbart. Around the time of Trump's first presidential bid which coincided with my increasing rage and despair at the state of my country. Not too different from Americans really.

During the covid tyranny (my state had the longest lockdown in the WORLD) I used this place to vent my rage and hate at Dan Andrews.

Crocodile Dundee and Fosters beer (yes I know it’s Canadian) and other media blitzes turned their culture into a 90’s joke - hiding their natural and true talents, like gas station meat pies.

I agree, but I think that "Crocodile Dundee" and "Fosters beer", and maybe Outback Steak House, was just enough to get American's to get interested in Australia to actually research and learn about it.

I agree, my original post was to gauge if it was only me seeing this of if a larger group is seeing this too, and it looks like this is an actual thing... Not my imagination.

speaking of globalization and cultural standardization, in my country youth speak better english than their own mother tongue. Globalists will be thrilled.

In general you will find the classic culture dead where most people are. But I spend a lot of time in rural areas and there is a lot of what I would consider classic, or an evolution of classic australian culture. Large 4x4s, flannel, accents, bbqs, beer, you do not find these things much in within the city of its greater suburbia.

So it would seem that I am seeing a difference, and that much like in America, people are becoming less invested in their culture and heritage, and perhaps, it is technology that's corralling us, and driving us to a singularity rather than uniqueness. I appreciate your reply!

Here, I see the root cause mostly rapid immigration with no integration into culture. Most of these people will never move out into the remote parts of australia, but the australians who are there continue to have that culture you are talking about. In the city though, its a jewish paradise

Aussie culture died in the late 80s to early 90s. By 2000 it was completely eradicated.

[ - ] iSnark [op] 3 points 5 monthsNov 26, 2024 05:36:06 ago (+3/-0)

Ok, So I'm not just imagining it. It is a thing...

[ - ] UncleDoug 6 points 5 monthsNov 26, 2024 06:00:19 ago (+6/-0)

American culture also died, it got replaced with nigger rap, goy slop and neo-liberal media.
No one is brave enough to admit it, but the American stereotype that everyone knows, also no longer exists.

[ - ] iSnark [op] 3 points 5 monthsNov 26, 2024 06:10:11 ago (+3/-0)

I agree that American culture has gone to shit...

For clarity, I wasn't taking a swipe at Australian culture. I can remember when I was younger, Australians had uniqueness to their language, but in my time here engaging with Aussies, I don't think I've ever once, heard an Australian post something here that I didn't readily understand without looking it up. That's why I asked. I guess, I expected to see more differences between American posters and Australian posters in the use of specific word used. Sort of like American Toilet versus English Loo.

Hope this makes sense...

jews run all white nations. You may live in America, Canada, England e.t.c while I live in Australia however we all live in modern jewish society. The world is shaped to how the jews want it.

[ - ] iSnark [op] 1 point 5 monthsNov 26, 2024 03:44:16 ago (+1/-0)

I think there's truth to this, but wouldn't we expect that nations would still retain some of their cultural differences, for instance, calling a "loo" a "loo" in the UK instead of a "toilet"?.
