Didn’t watch the video, but I can tell you, just got 63k miles out of a set of Hankook tires on the wife’s 2020 expedition. Had the exact same tires installed new last month. Always go high end.

I agree. Although, I used to buy a specific brand of tire that were mostly unheard of at the time, when my BMW mechanic told me about them. He raced cars, and he told me that a lot of the guys that he raced with, were using them for racing, and that they performed really well. Back then they were freakishly cheap for the quality, and I stayed with that brand for a quite awhile, until they became widely known, and the they got really expensive. I think the quality of them has gone down somewhat since they became popular so they're not really my go to anymore...
Another thing I do s batteries. If a battery lasts me a long time, I buy that exact battery again. Had a F150 factory battery last eight years, bought another, from the dealership. Just replaced the battery in our forklift at work. It was an Interstate battery from 2011. I replaced it with the same.

I don't know if that's a man thing in general, or, if it's pretty rare in society, But, I do stay loyal and true to that which is loyal to me. Make a good product. treat me right, keep the cost reasonable, and you've got my business for life!

He does come off that way, but he's actually a pretty accomplished guy:
Early life
Scotty Kilmer was born on October 2, 1953, in Niagara Falls, New York. At age 14, he learned to be a mechanic from his grandfather, Elmer Kilmer, who was the chief mechanic at the Texaco gas station which Scotty's father owned.[5] He studied at York University and received a BA in anthropology in 1975[5][6] and then attended the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, receiving a master's degree in anthropology. He was in the process of working towards his Ph.D., but eventually quit due to his dissatisfaction with the university tenure system. Kilmer went on to become a mechanic and moved to Houston in 1980. On the suggestion of his wife, he wrote a book, Everyone's Guide to Buying a Used Car and Car Maintenance, originally published in 1994. Its release led Kilmer to be on the front page of the Houston Chronicle, which attracted the attention of the local CBS affiliate KHOU.[5]
