Check the battery recycling bins of all the major hardware stores like home Depot and Lowe's. Most don't care if you take some used batteries out of there and you'll find a large portion of them are in perfectly good working order but the person just upgraded their drill or something else so they didn't have any need for the batteries.
There are battery adapters as well. If you're just running a drill or something with a motor, anything around 20v will work. 18v, 20v, 22v, maybe even 24v, depending on how well your device was made.
Edit: unless they added something to check for that sort of shenanigans. Fuckers trying to lock you into only their battery platforms.
Just got a killer deal on new milwaukee forge batteries nows the time of year to buy stuff like that ive probably spent $1500 on tool stuff in the last 2 weeks. It sucks, but I know it will probably save me a few thousand if I bought them at any other time of the year.
