Totally underrated show. I used to watch that show, "Hee Haw", "Mayberry R.F.D.", and "Petticoat Junction" back in the day. They were all cancelled in what was called "the rural purge", a mass cancellation of rural-themed TV shows. "Green Acres" had the unusual quality of featuring bizarre absurdist comedy that kids today would call "random", like a farmer couple adopting a pig for a son, which everyone understood except for Mr. Douglas.

Oh yeah, TV Land found an all new audience for old shows from the 60s that the younger generation never heard of and the older generation was nostalgic for. You can really see a difference between the older shows and the new much later ones because the culture had changed that much in the 20 or 30 years. There was a definite understanding of what was acceptable to be shown on TV back then by the audience because people knew what obscenity and indecency actually meant. These days, you don't even hear those words.

I just couldn't fathom paying $86 a month to be force fed commercials.

I rented movies for 10 years and watched films about 2 hrs a night when you could still do that. Then of course netflix but then netflix did their Hey White People shit and I noped the fuck out of them for over ten years.
