Good safety tip. Use a telescope or some other means of verifying the target and hit it with laser points. Aim for the optics if you can and blind it. A strong enough laser can destroy the cameras or other optic devices.

A strong enough laser can cut the fucker into pieces.

Our friends at google say 5 milliwatts but you need more power to get the laser farther. As for destroying a drone, the amount of power required and equipment is probably out of reach of most people.

How strong does a laser have to be to damage a camera?

Lasers having power as low as 5 milliwatts can damage the camera when they are pointed at it for a long time. When the laser power goes beyond 5 milliwatts, the extent of damage increases, and the duration of exposure needed to cause that damage decreases.

The limiting factor is aim. No way anyone will be aiming a laser right into the lens of a camera for more than a split second without a sophisticated rig.

All my kids are getting laser pointers for Christmas.

The location of the laser source is recorded. 'Don't try this at home.'

That is possible but not if 50+ people are out there doing it all at the same time.

We had this conversation the other day.

Unfortunately and conveniently the drones never fly during the day.

Wai come?!

They can be identified in daylight.
