You probably are. You need a hobby, but one that can never truly be mastered. Physical skills, maybe, Chess, music, writing, art, find something that is incredibly difficult for most people, then do it. Then do it better.

I would also recommend a cold plunge but you probably will talk yourself out of it when the water hits.

It would serve you very well to be kidnapped, blindfolded, and left off in the wilderness to survive. Not only would it help you to appreciate civilization and life, but surely that sort of rite of passage or event would elevate you one some sort of spiritual plane.

Go camping. Backpacking. Hiking. Or as more offensive types would say: Touch grass.

I found a spiritual connection to humanity in my garden. It's not as pleasant as it may sound. I finally escaped the concrete jungle, got a house with my wife on the tailed of the megatropolis right where it starts to become farmland. I planted a patch of wheat grass with every intention on baking my own loaf of bread. I wanted to experience what our ancestors felt and go through the hard work of planting the seeds, separating the wheat from the chaff, and milling it down to flour.

Anyway, it was about the time the wheat grass started to take off and the seed heads had finally started to take form when I realized: Wow, I wasted all this fucking time trying to create a single loaf of bread. If I'd had spent those evenings working a second job, I'd have enough to buy multiple loaves of bread in a single hour - even at minimum wage. I realized what a blessing it was to have other people: Everyone on voat/upgoat tonight is able to eat thanks to the wonderful network of people that exists: Farmers, tractor builders, truckers, warehouses, bakeries, truck manufacturers, grocery store owners, grocery store employees. I realized I could help the shop down the street from my house part-time and not only have the money to feed myself, but I'd also be helping the business owner, and serving the townspeople.

The system is far from perfect, but it is a dang blessing that any man can eat in the modern era. That said, any man who labors is contributing to this great thing we call civilization. Wether he realize it or not. Together, we create more than the sum of our parts.
