Civic nationalism is baked into the core of Christianity. That ANYONE could join was precisely how it took over Europe. Europeans did NOT consider themselves some singular race. They saw their neighbors as very different peoples, and Christianity was a means to unite them. The same logic used to unite French and Italians and Greeks has been used to make excuses for niggers.
It's really hard to properly understand the mindset of a person even 200 years ago. Rootless cosmopolitanism has been around for about 5 generations now. Beyond that, he spoke in parable, so the assertion that the layman 'understands' Jesus is hubris and folly, At best he can hope to infer meaning, but were he honest, he would always have room for doubt.
I agree the shitskin masses would be unable divine much meaning at all - but I understand that neither can the vast majority of uneducated White Americans who get most of their theological education from social media.
This is not a question of logic, these are basic facts that no legitimate christian authority disputes. If that information causes you to put less stock into what is written, that is your decision to make. I'm not going to try to take a man's god from him, I just believe it is important to understand the reality of the creation of the text and the resulting multinational political faith when approaching such a consideration as that of religion and worship.
