I think they are both pricks. Parking the bike there was a total jerk move. Throwing it in the tree was a total jerk move. Torching the car only proves the bicyclist was more of a prick. I would guess this was an argument that began long before that day.
If the bike belongs to an actual renter who gets a parking spot, and decides to use his spot for his bike instead of a car, why would the car owner think that spot is free for the taking like that? Just because a bike is easy to move doesn't give people the right to take other people's owned parking spots out of convenience.
