Frank Zappa teaches Steve Allen to play The Bicycle (1963) - Upgoat

This is interesting to me. I’ve always thought of Frank Zappa as a freak and a wierdo. FWIW , he is exactly that. Remember, don’t eat the yellow snow.
My father knew him and played drums in one of his early bands, probably around the time this film was made. My father grew up in the San Fernando Valley and went to high school with a bunch of other people we all know. He did a gig as an opener for The Beach Boys in a high school auditorium. He knew the Carpenters, that kind of crew.

Did you follow in his footsteps, as far as playing an instrument?

Well, Dads been gone awhile now and no, I didn’t do any music stuff. He was early sixties. I think he left his Ludwig’s down south hen he moved up to Sac for college in 1963-64.
