I would not have guessed Mykah N9ne. I think he is up there, but that the sample size is too small. I am almost certain that MC Paul Barman and maybe MF DOOM have a larger vocabulary. There are also guys with less recorded or accesible material like Sesquipidelian and Divine Styler and Dose One. My Money is on MC Paul Barman, though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thABL7wiS0M

Aesop rock

It is 100 and 50% Aesop Rock, I am pretty sure someone counted unique works used in rap, and Aesop was a clear first

Interesting. Not sure if I overlooked it, but do those lyrics include words from other artists featured on his tracks, or are those purely the words out of his mouth?

I wonder where Sevin would land.

It may include sampled material from other rappers, but I think the difference would be negligible.

Who is Sevin? Do you mean Slug (7even)? He would probably be in the top 10%.

I think the difference would be negligible.

Agreed, although it would still bump the number up. Determining word count is a pretty cool undertaking nevertheless.

Who is Sevin?

He's HQ'd in California. Despite making music since 1999, I'm not surprised you're unfamiliar with him. He's got plenty of music and has interviews here and there throughout the years. I remember when his currently most popular music video first came out:

OK. From watching a long snibbet of that video, I would liken his material to Ill Bill/Non-Phixion, but I would definitely give Ill Bill the edge vocabulary-wise:

Ill Bill (Also a Jew) 1st and last verse: https://youtu.be/znccSLyG0cU?si=YquZbczEDS5UKrkK

That audio definitely fits the era. Sounds like the compilation album Pass the Mic.

By the way, happy new year.

This is your answer, u/DukeofRaul was correct

[ - ] TheodoreKent 1 point 4 monthsJan 1, 2025 00:49:11 ago (+1/-0)

didn't someone count unique words and say it was Aesop Rock?

[ - ] TheBigGuyFromQueens [op] 0 points 4 monthsJan 1, 2025 00:52:17 ago (+1/-1)

Yes. If you read the article, that was the older calculation. I'm telling you:, it is probably not Mykah N9ne--although he would probably be in the top 10. You also have Sage Francis. He's up there, too. Mos Def or Talib Kweli would he up there. I'm still very sure that MC Paul Barman if not #1 is at least higher on the list than Mykah.

I do like three of the rappers you have mentioned, so I will take a look at this 'Mykah' guy, altho that rap moniker sounds Jewy as fuck

MC Paul Barman is a Jew, but I give credit where t is due. Mykah 9 is a lightskinned Black guy from Project Blowed:

This is probably his most well-known song: https://youtu.be/cYcpP8amReU?si=IjvLW-NjJg9JOnCb

EDIT: BTW: AesopRock is at least half Jewish and his last name is Bavitz. I prefer the less abstract and more clever (yet less rhythmic) Barman, although I do enjoy some AesopRock songs.

I m familiar with RA and AFRO.. I like RA. AFRO not so much. He is very techincally good, but he has no real charisma and he is like a carbon copy to me of a guy who came out like 15 years earlier who I enjoy more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HB05ALfHUHE&list=PL77898BA274EC316B&index=7

He is also from Queens. South Jamaica.

Read these lyrics and you'll see why he is #1 in terms of vocabulary. Great Holocaust joke, too.

Verse 1:
Let's have a discussion about busing larval racists
To the ghetto make em' let go their carpal braces
Bronze them
And then mount them to a plaque
So where's the outer city?
"I believe inner city means black"
Did you know that both black women and jewesses both wear wigs?
What a cowinkydink!
I'll put my hand down their pants and make my pinky stink
I wanna sista not a shiksa
Yes I am from a rinkydink town
Republicrats: they take half step forward, and then they double back
They speak with a gay lilt
They tilted their gray kilt
Spilt on The A.I.D.S Quilt
With the dregs of a keg plus eggy smeg all down the leg
You make my karma puke
You who refuse to disarm a nuke
And keep printing Marmaduke
Anger, like Margaret Sanger sitting on a bloody coathanger
I built a Planned Parenthood out of transparent wood and fiberglass
Cybercast, from the Tigris and Euphrates
To the Khyber Pass
Geronimo!
There's no such thing as anonymo
To the I.R.S-kimo
Things are getting worse
There was laughter after NAFTA 'cause it can't be reversed

[Refrain]
Little thought in my knot
Ooh you make it hot
Send a puff of steam out the ears
To make the bleeding brain grow

Verse 2:
Since when is shaved the norm?
I’ll take these depraved deformed enslaved conformed
Wedge letter, bed wetter, cuneiform
You call them hirsute? Fur's cute
Smoothness? a trivial pursuit
I hope your ova's kosher
Like lox from Nova Scotia
Breakfast in bed, twist in the bread, pretzel dough model
How much does the challah cost (Holocaust)
Grandma worshipped Quetzalcoatl
And gramps made a damn nice lampshade
They stretched his tan flesh out like a Band-Aid
As a feral lad, without the sterile pad, did you feel imperilled, Dad?

Roam home to a dome
On the crest of a neighboring hill
Where the chores are all done
Before they're begun
And eclectic nonsense is nil

Verse 3:
What's that on your beard
A tiny ivory black power fist facial hair comb
I'm building geodesic domes
I'm calling Ric Ocasek holmes
Ma, origami magi roam
Eve, Mika, RZA, Evil JD
Nasir is Osiris and J Live, AZ
Rakim, Cormega, Cage, Mr. O.C
I'm anomie I, mon ami
It's abundantly clear
That there's profundity here
It tickled Pickle Clowns and comics
When I liberated one of those fancy, meshy, office chairs
And called it "Trickle Down Ergonomics"

[Refrain]

I can rhyme anything
Like a palindrome or morse code
To make the bleeding brain grow
"Bleeding Brain Grow"
