It was around 6 killed, 14 almost killed, and 90 sent to the hospital. More than 130 vehicles involved.

I escaped the ice and highways forever!

Same here!

All these retards fucking taking videos instead of running ahead trying to slow people down, God damn I hate social media faggots.

[ - ] Deplorablepoetry 5 points 5 monthsJan 2, 2025 04:30:50 ago (+5/-0)

What if all the cars were filled with niggers and kikes?

See? Only a matter of perspective to change something horrific into something sensational!!

Now pretend the Germans gassed 6 million kikes….., imagination can be a wonderful thing

[ - ] NoRefunds 2 points 5 monthsJan 2, 2025 07:45:30 ago (+2/-0)

They weren't, also kys kike

Michelins for winter. Pirellis for summer. I also own a set of two working eyeballs that I mostly try to keep open while driving.

Blind people should only be allowed to drive in the city, not at highway speed……, UNLESS the seeing-eye-dog has a valid license like the unfortunate dogs in video

That was really bad. Poor design in the express lines, can’t get out.

[ - ] RobertJHarsh 1 point 5 monthsJan 2, 2025 10:45:12 ago (+1/-0)

That's by design. They do that so it's harder to exit or turn around if (((they))) decide to block roads. You think those truck wire stopper things actually stop trucks?

[ - ] Sector2 [op] 0 points 5 monthsJan 2, 2025 14:08:33 ago (+0/-0)

There are wire stoppers instead of gravel ramps?

[ - ] RobertJHarsh 1 point 5 monthsJan 2, 2025 16:28:12 ago (+1/-0)

I got the name wrong, it's a Cable Barrier. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/94/E20_2plus1_west_of_Skara.jpg/640px-E20_2plus1_west_of_Skara.jpg

Ah, I see. Like a terrible guardrail, not a runaway truck stopper. Huge waste of money if those are from the last few decades. The sloped concrete barriers are the way to go. They'll repel trucks too when it's just a nudge, but they won't stand up to a direct attack.

I've driven in ice storms...just never ever in a city or surrounded by idiots.

You feel the shimmy start that is unlike the other precipitation types. Really easy to let off the gas and gague your traction.

What sucks is if the ice starts accumulating on your vehicle, then you have the unusual wiggles plus an oddly-weighted vehicle to mess with expected steering tendencies.

Still would rather drive in blizzards.

Word.

How else would you describe black ice to a coastal Californian?

We're drivin...all is well...then all of a sudden my car wants to keep gliding to the left...not turning my wheel or anything, just goin on its own.

Or you catch the patches...and spontaneous car spasm.

I've driven in ice and snow on the east coast as a kid. Awful weather in summer and winter is why I ended up on the California coast in 1981. Was going to be San Diego, but the gf and I ran out of money halfway down. Was a stroke of luck, and I'm still here.

[ - ] Clubberlang 1 point 5 monthsJan 2, 2025 10:42:55 ago (+1/-0)

That shit ain't no joke I remember driving down I35 going toward Oklahoma and noticed everyone slowing down from 75 80 down to 40.

Then my wheels broke loose luckily as I was sliding sideways my wheels caught and I didn't hit anyone or the guardrail.

But that black ice shit out there ainy nuttin tuh fuck wit frfr 💯.

[ - ] RobertJHarsh 2 points 5 monthsJan 2, 2025 10:42:58 ago (+2/-0)

That's pathetic because of a) social media faggots and b) Ft. Worth and Dallas had several days warning and did no prevention like sanding the roads or maybe asking another city for treatment trucks.

[ - ] Trope 2 points 5 monthsJan 2, 2025 11:02:08 ago (+2/-0)

In poor road conditions, I drive slower.

Guys in F150s will speed around me and that’s fine. I saw a car literally flipped over. Why? Why does rain mean you’ve got to be so bad at driving that you flip the fucking car over? Idiots.

[ - ] Muskrat 3 points 5 monthsJan 2, 2025 11:59:17 ago (+3/-0)

It's Texas, we have very little experience driving on icy roads. Usually they just shut everything down for what would be considered relatively minor weather up north

[ - ] bobdole9 2 points 5 monthsJan 2, 2025 12:22:05 ago (+2/-0)

Everything shuts down in the Georgia mountains if ice is even a possibility.

Its for the best.

Ice isn’t usually a problem when its super cold. It when the thermometer is hanging around 32 deg and its switching from snow to sleet to rain or vice versa. An accident I had was when it had snowed and then rained and the highway had this very thick coat of icy snow on it which the plows/road salters had not removed. Usually the road clearing is really good in my state but not that day. Everyone was driving 20mph (on a normally 65mph road.) but it didn’t matter. There were cars littered on the side of the road every quarter mile. I never saw anything like it before or since. I should have turned around when I saw that.

I was going really slow but I tapped the breaks and immediately went into a fishtail. I made contact with the divide a couple times and regained control. Turned around and went home. Cost about 1500 in body work. Shoulda just stayed home in the first place.

Breaks dont work on ice. At all. You cant use them.

[ - ] Sector2 [op] 0 points 5 monthsJan 2, 2025 15:33:14 ago (+0/-0)

Agreed. You see so many videos where the crash probably could have been avoided if they had just let off the brakes. Steer into it and you'll usually regain some directional control.

You lived and you learned, and it only cost you $1,500. Smart enough to return home instead of pressing on and doing something worse. It can take a lot of experience driving in the snow to get around reasonably well, but even then you can't always avoid shit. Especially with all the uninsured shitskins driving around.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 5 monthsJan 2, 2025 17:32:06 ago (+0/-0)

Everybody was spining out that day. When I fishtailed I was right next to a cop. I was like “oh shit don’t let me hit the cop.” I didn’t. When I regained control I looked over at the cop. He just sorta shrugged at me. He had bigger fish to fry that day.

I kid you not, I just gave the lightest touch to the break. I was driving in a straight line at 20mph for chrissake. All hell broke loose.
