That's amazing. You've walked those streets your whole life, haven't you? Nothing in my life has been permanent enough for me to get attached to.

Permanence is a young man's illusion. Lost everything I ever owned a couple times, now there's almost nothing I wouldn't give away. There's a certain freedom that comes with having nothing, and it's fucking terrifying to manage.

I need to get rid of so many things. Shit I never use, just weighing me down. I'm reminded of an old Buddhist parable about a wandering monk that comes to a river. He wants to cross, so he builds a raft. When he gets to the other side he thinks, "I might come to another river soon, I better bring this raft with me". The monk never did come to another river and he carried that raft to the end of his days.

My father died 2 years ago and he had a bunch of that. Made me take a look at myself and I aswell, have been on a purge of anything that isnt needed. Its just anchors holding me back. Watched him drink himself to death and that motivated me to stop drinking. His entire passing has made me reevaluate everything in my life. I dont want to carry that raft. I wont be needing it.

I’m not from this area, but I have lived in this general area for the past 14 years now.

Mutually Assured Destruction
I've never been seasick in my life. But your camera work was making me dizzy.
Good to see a "man on the street " video though.

Did you cut the string yet?

Last time I saw one of those was just a couple months after 9/11, near the main greyhound bus station in Baltimore. There was very few of them in Florida, I know Tallahassee has one near the bus station too. Other than that there's no fallout shelters because the water table is only about a dozen feet from the surface.

There was very few of them in Florida

I'm guessing it has to do with Florida being -29484479r below sea level.

Meanwhile the Swiss are investing in their shelters to ensure survival of their people.

Big Guy- I have (had, haven’t been there in years) that sign outside my high school and our post office was right across the street, also having that sign. Supposedly the shelter was underground between the two. Never went into it but, yeah. We had that shit too. I always, as a kid, wondered what it was like down there.
