I recall as a young teen, every 3rd or 4th year the Nation's hospitals would regularly be overwhelmed and inundated with influenza patients - to where public announcement notices would appear on Tv, print and radio reminding not go to the hospital for influenza unless it was serious and or life threatening, but go to the GP instead.

Also, as far as i know China do not have separate GP offices like in the West - GPs are typically located in the actual hospital itself - so anyone wanting GP service is required to go and queue at a local hospital regardless.
However, if you only require a blood test or something similar etc - it is much faster and streamlined process without needing to see the GP.
