It may surprise you to hear that German and Irish immigration actually exceeded the original ethnic English population in the US. Although that may be an academic distinction, on account of English genetics being primarily Celtic anyway.
I don't have a problem with French people but then again I am a little less than half French myself. My family records indicate arrival in Canada very early where they eventually followed the Mississippi down to become some of the first settlers (or resettlers imo) of the St. Louis area. One of my ancestors even had a home that stood where the Arch is now located. This area was primarily French until the Germans started coming. I am 50% German as well but generally consider myself American.

We are made up of the same ethnic blend of anglo-saxon. Unfortunately the blood has been watered down of lately...
