Same. I had two of them and thought they had died because winter came and they never hatched. Then the following summer the things hatched, and luckily I had left them in a screened porch with the lids off the jars. Massive moths, especially to a little kid.

Good memories. This sort of stuff is what a White childhood should be spent doing, not watching the electric jew.

Kangaroos and wallabys apparently get heart attacks from a dog chasing them. Dont know how they survived against dingos all this time.

The family is all around the world. The biggest adult Lepidoptera is one too, the Atlas Moth here in SE Asia

great clip. you really only have a 1-2 week window to encounter the moth. super rare to witness mating.

i discovered a cecropia caterpillar on my plum tree last summer in new england. it was quite voracious, but the harvest season was mostly finished so i left him be. got a big cocoon on the tree now about the size of my middle finger. posted pics in the other voat
