extremely important cancer Discovery cancer uses fermentation of glutamine and glucose to survive so Target both while in ketosis to kill the cancer cells https://youtu.be/KjdAtauO2cA
This guy, Thomas Seyfried, is the primary proponent for the “glutamine” strategy. I say him do an interview with Jimmy Dore a few months ago. If youre interested.
What he says sounds very promising. I would definitely consider a low glutamine/low protein diet if I was diagnoses with cancer. Trouble is, since glutamine is a non-essential amino acid your body produces it anyway if you eliminate it from diet. Theres also a drug call DON (6-Diazo-5-oxo-L-norleucine) which blocks glutamine reactions since glutamine is a non-essential amino acid your body produces if you eliminate it from diet. Its not yet widely used in cancer treatment. Seyfried discusses DON in the Dore interview. Maybe eliminating glutamate from the diet might hinder glutamine production?
His belief is that cancer cells are regressive cells using “archaic” kinds of metabolism (think early single celled life forms) and that the problem is bad mitochondria. So certain pro-ketosis diets that promote mitophagy might prevent these cells from going wrong in the first place. Some senolytic drugs might do the same.
There are other amino acids that are thought to fuel cancer, through the mTOR pathway, so a person diagnosed with cancer might consider eliminating some of them from diet. He seems to think glutamine is way more influential than the other AAs . Obviously reduce glucose/carbs.
By the way several of the B vitamins and iron are also thought to fuel cancer. Always double check for the “downsides” of the vitamins and minerals that you supplement.
Wait, so you are saying you want there to be zero glutamine and glucose in the body to starve it off? Good luck with that.
The most common protein and the thing any sugar gets converted to at some stage of metabolism. Other proteins can't even form useful tissue without glutamine. Without those things you aren't only dead. You are a pile of dust and or goo.
OPs goal is to become a lump of disassociated amino acids.
The body selects where to send amino acids. During fasting it will conserve them for important tissues. Don't have to eliminate them entirely, only get the body to enter starvation mode.
He has discussed a drug called DON in other interviews which is a glutamine blocker. There may be some other things that block glutamine synthesis. Supposedly a lot of polyphenols.
Yeah he talks about the need to administer something to block glutamine fermentation within the cell because cancer cells drive energy from either glutamine fermentation or glucose fermentation within the cell. He proved that it was fermentation and not oxidation of the two sources which is apparently important as well. But he points out the hole in warburgers otherwise good theory about cancer lives off sugar was that Warburton missed the fact that cancer cells can also live off the fermentation of glutamine so it's important to block that as well.
Someone in the comments under the video suggested that one way to block glutamine absorption by cancer cells is to immediately do some exercise after eating which will force the body to direct glutamine to the muscles rather than cancer cells so the cancer cells can be starved of glutamine that way. And of course extremely low carb diet. Basically no carbs if you can do it which everybody could if they just did it.
He stops glucose consumption and blocks glutamine fermentation with some drug.
Cancer cells can live off either one so it's important to stop both.
He goes into why warburger and the glucose theory was nearly right but the hole in the theory was that cancer cells can derive energy by fermenting glutamine inside the cell to produce ATP
hooknose, jew fro, (((Dr Seyfried))) lol. Not saying I don't believe there is truth in this though. Ive experienced the power of ketosis in my 20's after getting way too lazy and fat working from home and needing to get back in shape after a breakup. More recently, Ive found i function much better just eating one meal a day. I believe that fasting serves a purpose and is needed downtime for our digestive and primary metabolic systems. The majority of humans throughout history were not stuffing their faces with 3 meals a day and snacks in between. Most were lucky to have one and often went days between out of necessity.

Apparently there are some foods/supplements which block glutamine production— mostly polyphenols like green tea extract and turmeric, which are good for you anyway. https://www.canceractive.com/article/glutamine-glutamate-diet-and-cancer
