Watches in the Wild: Vito Spatafore’s Oris Chronograph

I was watching some Sopranos clips and I very surprised to see the character of Vito with an Oris. Fanook that he was, he was a top earner. I would think he would have had a Datejust or maybe an AP or a Ulysses Nardin. Oris is a really good watch, though. I have the Aquis Big Cherry, myself. No complaints. I just think it is a bit understated for a character like Vito.

This is how you get a job.

Watch consultant for shows. I know there are costume designers yada yada but if you can sell yourself...remember when sandra bernhard was a gay consultant?

I'm probably the only other guy on this board that know what a "Fanook" is without having looked it up! What do those go for. I like the simplicity and clean lines on that beaut.

Looks like $2200, but that watch is almost 20 years old. They don’t make it anymore. Probably find it used for $1000 or so. Oris isn’r a high-demand watch that holds a lot of value.

It is nice though. I'm not really into collecting watches, but I'd love to come across a WWII era Rolex Submariner or Air King someday, when I can afford one.

Just get yourself a new Oris or Tudor instead. Or spend a G and get yourself the new Tissot Powermatic 80.

BigGuy, I'm not really into watches that seriously. Although, I do like the thought of those two watches that I mentioned because of their tie-in to the WWII Era. For me it's the nostalgia of WWII...

Nah, dude, as soon as we heard it uttered in Sopranos, we’ve all been using it.

It’s especially fun because the wife’s family is from Italy.

I grew up with that word and many like it! I never caught on to the sopranos, I'm an old school Godfather fan...
