An acoustic laser device can put be pointed at your window and can measure the sound that hits the glass and then reassemble it into coherent audio.

Perry Mason and Matlock were always solving the crime because the typewriter made the r look funny or the t didn't make the little bit that goes above the horizontal line. Yep. Typewriters weren't completely secure either.

I have doubts it works well in practice. Maybe in a lab. Maybe with modern AI they can "diffuse" out the noise until they get something like what they are expecting. But then it will just hallucinate. Now that's an actual tool. Sometimes faulty intelligence is worth more than accurate intelligence.
