They are pretty much like goats mixed with giraffes just like llamas. I knew a guy who raised alpacas and llamas, in the suburbs. His front lawn (big for suburbs) was gated chain-link chest high, and the alpacas and llamas always had their heads over the fence anytime a pedestrian would pass, and they were friendly, just looking for food and attention. They eat a lot just like goats, and I swear he would always leave one out in his front yard just to eat everything.
