I’ve come to see that he ain’t coming. Why should he? Why is he expected to come and fix all this shit/save us? We’re supposed to fix and save us. That’s his blessing, if you believe in such a thing. He ain’t coming to do shit. It’s ours to do.
There ain't nothing coming but our response, whatever it's gonna be. The gods are and always were things people do/did. To worship a pacifistic, dying god is to pacify and die. Here's a prayer: God, let us divorce ourselves from these jewish stories, from their unhappy gods and weary angels, from their mealy-mouthed pilpul and apocalyptic coping. God, let us again worship the noble, the brave, those who in virtue of their violence can meaningfully love, who do not deign apologies for the faults of others, who die not for eternal reward, but because it is the best use of their life to keep the flame of their race burning.
