I'll give you a little clue something that it took me a long time to realize. You are above average intelligence and as such you can do things at the average person cannot. In fact it's kind of shocking to realize how little the average person knows. So you say there are not super geniuses cuz you know how to do a lot of what they have done but what you're not realizing is you're pretty high on the IQ ladder.
The other thing I would say is the ability to concentrate and scrape all this data or the willingness to do it by a high profile group that has the power to defund it all is what's new.
