One of the 78rpm records I bought when I lived in London in the 1970s. Bought a gramophone (1926 HMV) and 200 records. Turns out that this was an American record.
People are mentally short term thinkers, and prefer the newer music styles. This song makes fun of this phenomena. The singer tongue in cheek is complaining about this new-fangled jazz music. Funny song.
