HERE HERE...I can't even stomach hockey anymore and at one time I lived for the game with a shot at an NHL future, and I mean "I lived for the game", sure toughened me up at age 12, and it only cost me my front teeth, a broken jaw, half dozen breaks to my nose (to this day I still
don't breathe properly) a couple broken hands and shattered kneecap, numerous concussions, a viciously smashed big toe on my left foot, several yards of suture thread and 2 cracked ribs...but the only way to get into a good scrap and avoid criminal charges was by playing hockey and for guys who knew how to time and place a good physically racking body check one could release a lot of built up frustrations, it's also a great confidence booster...but it's fucked now, even the kids are more weak, mentally and physically.
AND THE UN SAYS THAT HOCKEY IS TOO WHITE.

I don't follow any sports, but hockey was the one sport that I think is pretty cool- I don't watch recorded games though, only live. I watched a few high school games when I was that age (never saw a HS football game even though they were very "popular"), and I got free tickets for a semi-pro game before covid as an adult. Seriously, it was pretty magical. The way the team skated so beautifully it was almost like watching some kind of synchronized dance, they made it look so effortless, it was very impressive.

That being said, FUUUUUCK all those injuries, you've definitely convinced me to not encourage my little boy to get into the sport!

It's not just boomers, unfortunately. I work at a sports bar, it's as popular as ever. Now even chicks and faggots know enough about the game to talk about it and nothing else for hours. I've been inundated with football fever since September, and to make it worse I work in a college town. The disease is as bad as it's ever been. If it wasn't for the 90% of all customers, we wouldn't pay bills. We really only hate people that give us a reason to remember them at the end of the night. I could tell some stories about that chapter of my life. There's a few faces out of the hundreds of thousands that I really remember for the wrong reasons. Less than a handful.
