How in the hell is a “large merchant vessel” even allowed in the near vicinity of the aircraft carrier Harry S Truman- let alone being allowed to “collide” with it?

I guarantee the DEI hire Command Master Chief Samira McBride had something to do with it…

Edit
This could’ve easily been a test run for another USS Cole bombing….

Why didnt the Gatling guns go brrrrrrt?

Heads need to roll.

We could’ve had a nuclear reactor and munitions sitting on the ocean bottom.
I know not likely with the training and redundancies, but who knows what was on that “happy merchant vessel”…. Suitcase nuke?

Agreed, her job description sounds like the Navy's version of a DEI Human resources officer.

United States Navy
A command master chief petty officer is the most senior enlisted sailor in a United States Navy unit. They advise their respective commander or Commanding Officer, and provide input in the formulation, implementation, and execution of policies concerning morale, welfare, job satisfaction, discipline, utilization, family support, and training of enlisted sailors, as well as providing input and advice in matters affecting mission and operations as required.

What would the CMC be involved with navigation? Do you think she's on the bridge shouting commands to helmsmen?

I never said she was.
You just did idiot.

If the cmc is a BMC they could potentially be the bosun mate of the watch but being a chief let alone master chief it's highly unlikely. Usually 2nd class or below. Least when I was in anyways.

Also they wouldn't be making navigation decisions just supervising the lookouts and helmsman. Need to be at least a warrant officer to be officer of the watch.

and remember... also past at least one cruiser and two destroyers... at least one refuler/supply ship and most likely a Los Angy class attack sub...

Carriers don't float around "alone" through the red sea... They float around in "carrier groups"

Edit: just looked it up:
The carrier strike group includes the flagship USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75); Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1, with eight embarked aviation squadrons; staffs from CSG-8, CVW-1, and Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 28; the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG 64); and two Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers, USS Stout (DDG 55) and USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109).

Whilst maneuvering a vessel in-port,the vessel is under the command of the "Harbor Master".

The Capitan of both vessels WILL be relieved, rest assured.

Dont know. How did a US destroyer get close enough to fuck up HMAS Melbourne? (The second. Not the first one when it sunk)

The ship was flagged Panama.
Are we sure it was an accident?

I was once on the USS Kittyhawk.
There was a map of the Earf on the wall.
The Map was INSIDE the ship, so obviously everything on the map is smaller than the ship.

So, tell me, how are two ships supposed to fit in the Mediterranean sea without colliding if the sea is smaller than even one ship?

Checkmate, Globetards!
