We're taking to the skies, and out of the hot tub we go.

Knex Quad-Copter.This puppy could go fast as hell and lift hard (2 full sodas cans) in it's prime. Many years ago before the Jews regulated my plastic toy.

Very cool. I've been looking to buy lately. Those things are expensive. You can easily spend thousands for something much more fragile and a "snitch on you for having fun function".

I hope you used super glue.

Nope, it would break things worse when it crashed if glued and I couldn't rebuild on site. I learned to fly visually with this thing crashing it hundreds of times. And rebuilding in a few minutes only to be airborne again

It really surprises me that it holds together under all that force.

Those K'nex I was sorting in the hot tub story included a very large amount of broken pieces from this aircrafts frequent crashes. They were finally thrown out

Why use K'Nex and not Meccano?

[ - ] Freespeechplease [op] 1 point 4 monthsFeb 13, 2025 21:50:04 ago (+1/-0)

Meecano is Heavy.

Anyway the K'nex craft rattled alot. Honestly I have no idea how the computer gyroscope canceled out all the noise it was receiving during flight. Some of the best flights was when it would fall apart in flight during a hard bank turn and smash straight into the ground. One of the most impressive crashes. It must have been 150+feet up and the computer crashed or something. It made a U turn towards earth at full throttle. That crash broke so many pieces, Gray, Yellow, Red. Even down the the white pieces. I've never broken a tiny green piece however.

What about Lego Technics?

[ - ] Freespeechplease [op] 0 points 4 monthsFeb 13, 2025 21:53:24 ago (+0/-0)

My first build attempt was with Lego, but it wasn't aerodynamic enough, I didn't have the best pieces for such a thing at the time either.

Not Lego, Lego Tehnic.

People make helicopters, drones, cars, everything out of it.

I probably could have made a more stable small one with a technec set. Some of the reservations was I would have to modify the pieces. Those 3 phase brushless hobby motors mount right through the holes with a small nut and screw in a white circle piece. I didn't have to damage any parts besides crashing it.

That cracks me up. I used to have a hottub in my basement as well.

An image taken by it. Using a cell phone mounted on top. It's looking down at sand on the beach at its own shadow
