That is neat.

Eventually the ice will melt but the fish might be dead by then. Limited oxygen in the limited space means very limited life expectancy.

PRO TIP: you can put wld fish in your domestic aquarium but they will likely eat everything in the tank. Fun to watch until it’s not.

I'm sure if he wanted to save them he could do any number of things. I suspect the dog will get a treat.

Just setting it on your counter to thaw would likely result in all his bait minnows surviving. Had it been guppies, they'd already be dead.

I'm turble. I was hoping it would shatter in his hands and fish go flying everywhere and then his bitch let out that big scream.

How did he grab ice from nature that was perfectly cylindrical and perfectly clear?

His hands. They grabbed the bucket and dumped the ice block out if it. Majestic.

Looks like his bait fish in the bucket were outside in freezing temps. It's not really their "heat from swimming" that kept the water from freezing, that's just how freezing works. Same effect happens when you put a container of water in your freezer - the outside freezes first.

Yes, heat escapes from the outsides of the bowl first. That's not all that's happening.

For example, many cetaceans will use group schooling to maintain holes in the ice for breathing, sometimes for long periods of time.

That bowl would freeze solid a lot faster without the minnows doing laps.

That's kinda cool, but I had to shut it off when I heard him giggle and squeal.

I'm sorry for your trauma.
