Because I am of the opinion that internal factions are vying for power, and trump was put in office by obama et al and the CIA, to further isolate and undermine the u.s. in the long-term, while restoring superficial credibility to the reigning regime while we decouple from the middle east, and the intent of that is to invite a power struggle that will start another world war so we can repudiate our debt in preparation for a war with china.

We're about halfway to agreement: You agree we won't be given the truth either way, you disagree that there will be an audit.

Have you considered that they're trying to 'prove' our gold exists to gain leverage against BRICS and restore faith in the T-bills?

Or is your position that every nation is really all part of one closed system, pretending to be multiple independent nations that are likewise pretending to compete?

No matter how cynical you are, I assure you my cynicism is greater.

TLDR: they will say they are going to do, are doing, and have completed the audit. They will never provide any empirical information for the audit, nor will it be recorded elsewhere to be leaked. After "doing" the audit, they will say whatever results they feel like, and the public as a majority will accept it.

It will be functionally no different than voting. A "count" and then a result without evidence beyond a trust me bro.
