Egg prices could jump another 41% this year, USDA says, as Trump’s bird flu plan unveiled

https://www.newsnationnow.com/business/ap-business/ap-egg-prices-could-jump-another-41-this-year-usda-says-as-trumps-bird-flu-plan-unveiled/

The Agriculture Department predicts the current record prices for eggs could soar more than 40% in 2025, as the Trump administration offered the first new details Wednesday about its plan to battle bird flu and ease the cost of eggs.

With an emphasis on tightening up biosecurity on farms, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said the USDA will invest another $1 billion on top of the roughly $2 billion it has already spent battling bird flu since the outbreak began in 2022. Officials had hinted at the plan earlier this month.

It’s not clear how much more farmers can do to keep the virus out.

I have a steady supply of eggs but its all a jewish hoax. There's no fixing this world. The jews ruined it.

You just solved the problem without realizing it.

Another manufactured crisis. Record profits were made last time they pulled this price gouging stunt two years ago.

Rollins acknowledged that it will take some time before consumers see an effect at the checkout counter. After all, it takes infected farms months to dispose of the carcasses, sanitize their farms and raise new birds. But she expressed optimism that this will help prices.

“It’s going to take a while to get through, I think in the next month or two, but hopefully by summer,” Rollins said.

It's going to take months to undo what Biden did, but speculation is just that. Speculation.

we could be paying up more. i havent seen a bird falling from the sky from this supposedly deadly bird flu. i dont know but this whole thing strikes me as bs

why this is not affecting mexico? as far as am aware this is only happening here, supposedly

It only effects White countries, kind of like carbon emissions.

As far as i know, the US is the only country responding to this flu by mass culling. There's no reason for it. There was no need to kill all those chickens over a few positive tests. They should have isolated the sick birds, and let them recover.

I've seen no proof that their eggs would carry the virus, either.

Nah, they're doing it to us as well. The egg shelves at supermarkets are empty round here

Total insanity.

All we need to do is wait for the next round of egg laying stock to be bred up to production age.

It won't take long.

[ - ] Sector2 2 points 3 monthsFeb 26, 2025 18:16:54 ago (+2/-0)

2-4 more weeks until ducks start laying again.

[ - ] dosvydanya_freedomz [op] 1 point 3 monthsFeb 26, 2025 19:40:47 ago (+1/-0)

[ - ] Sector2 2 points 3 monthsFeb 26, 2025 22:56:44 ago (+2/-0)

Ducks from the lagoon fly over here all the time. Try some of their eggs though. Bigger and better than chicken eggs in every way.

Yes... I am giving you "hopium" because raising millions of egg laying hens is completely impossible.

What a fucking doom_fagging... faggot.

Takes about 15 weeks.

[ - ] dulcima 1 point 3 monthsFeb 26, 2025 17:27:32 ago (+1/-0)

Can't find eggs anywhere down in my part of the world.

[ - ] MaryXmas 1 point 3 monthsFeb 26, 2025 17:34:12 ago (+1/-0)

Sounds like maybe they were removed? ...We have been saying that for a while.

What is the big deal? Eggs are gross eating everyday anyways. So you pay $2-3 more for a pack. Are you people going to break your budget over a $3 increase of eggs? Just eat less eggs and more beans. Canned beans are cheap and very nutritious.

I like my bacon and eggs.

[ - ] Sector2 1 point 3 monthsFeb 26, 2025 18:23:01 ago (+1/-0)

Plenty of eggs in California. It's just that the 35 cent (delivered) eggs from Costco apparently sell out first thing. Just got a doz at the market for $8. The farmers market has them for $11. Trader Joe's has them for around $5.

Bird flu only effects one type of bird

[ - ] Stonkmar 1 point 3 monthsFeb 26, 2025 20:51:40 ago (+1/-0)

So, are products that use eggs (cakes, etc.) going up in price as well?

[ - ] dosvydanya_freedomz [op] 0 points 3 monthsFeb 26, 2025 21:12:28 ago (+0/-0)

[ - ] Scyber 0 points 3 monthsFeb 26, 2025 21:44:52 ago (+0/-0)

I'm glad I rarely eat eggs.
