Thats exactly what the story boils down to.

I watched a YouTube vid (who has time to read anyway?) about some AT officers memoirs about the Courland pocket where isolated remnants of army group North held out until Berlin fell and he ends it with the Russian officer asking him why they didn't just surrender like so many others had. The German struggling to put it into words just told him "Because we were soldiers.".

I guess they were fighting the universe - not the Russians.

You think that's what made them lose the war. It wasn't having to fight literally every other country that surrounded them using the amassed resources and manpower of all those nations. It wasn't having all of their cities and infrastructure carpet bombed to rubble. No, that definitely wasn't why they lost. It was meth.

The US gave their tank/apc soldiers uppers during the Gulf War in 91'. Idea was they need to be ready and alert for 36-48 hours on the initial invasion
