I can't wait for them to announce somebody like Michael B. Jordan as Rico.

Facts. The original was perfect. It can't get better. Even in competent hands, it could only get worse. And these won't be competent hands.

I think that in competent hands, White hands, the best writers, and a jew-free company structure, you could make a new one that didn't suck. But to remake the original? That's a common trick jews use to obfuscate the past and update the normie programming.

What is of note is that Rico was not white in the book. Heinlein's can even be said to be an early form of modern expectations of diversity in literature.

Much earlier than the last film Hollywood commonly 'whitewashed' obviously non-white types. Chinks, injuns, etc., would be played by white actors even if they'd usually wear makeup or whatever to look the part. Nowadays the trend more in the reverse, it seems to me, is an obvious byproduct of the increasing colored population among the younger demographics of the consuming public.

No matter though. It is questionable whether many people will be watching movies in five years. Or better yet: bothering to produce them...

To your credit, Heinlein's writing of "racial silence" into their fictional culture is probably telling about his views (at least his views about the future), but you're wrong about one thing: he never explicitly states that Rico is non-white.

He is plainly Filipino in the book. There is no reasonable reason to draw another conclusion. I noticed it immediately. I only read the book in the last few years.

Kinda dumm if you ask me even that they put a Northwest Nordic type like Casper Van Dien in a role like Juan Rico in any case. At first blush Juan could be a spic of some sort. Maybe even Spanish.

I also have to crack up at the article referring unironically to his "acting talents." His talent was being in the .000001 percentile for looks.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong. I love him in the film. The whole thing is so satirical that somehow Van Dien's non-existent acting talent was a sacrifice with a purpose.

Everyone says the book is better than the movie. I read the book last month, then watched the movie.

Book wins. Not surprising.

The movie would be better without preconcieved expectation from the original story.
