Anyone here have experience running cracked VR programs? anything I should know before buying a steam index?

It's the same as normal PC games. you launch stem VR, and start your game from your PC. I think you can even disable steam after you started steam VR. And some even link their pirated game in steam launcher.

ooooh. that's right you have to run it from your pc.

i forgot that it couldn't be loaded onto the headset. does having to load it onto the headset have complications for ones like the FakeBook headset?

I have an index myself. I don't know how the stand alone headsets work.

If you can afford an index and pc to run it you can afford the software to go with them.
