Huey Long, Peron, even Mussolini - probably had more in common with Bernie or AOC in this way. Basically promise-em-everything populists that rejected the kind of Musk initiated slash and burn politics we're seeing with the budget.

I'm not sure how this is necessarily good. The right often seems to mostly oppose spending programs because they go to non-whites - but there are whites in the South that live in the poorest counties in America. Should you look to help yourself or try to stick it to people you hate?

This white working class hostility to their own economic interests is what Marxists call 'false consciousness' by the way. For cultural reasons poor white trash ends up voting for a corporate toadying New York billionaire like Trump.
